Probably the most underrated coin in the Australian pre-decimal series, the 1934/35 Melbourne Centenary florin is not only a suberbly attractive designed coin but it is also difficult to source in highre grade. Then only 54,000 coins are available! A coin in MS67 was recently placed in an Australian online sale at $50,000. Many of these coins were put aside in the thirties so they rarely appear in low grade. However a coin like this one with a full wreath on the rider is particularly difficult to find. Graded by NGC at MS64 it offers great value as these coins are going to set off in price. Catalogues at $1500 in choice uncirclated and $2850 in gem uncirculated. This example is a touch off GEM uncirculated.
